The pay phone. I remember going to the mall pre cell phone days and needing to check in with my mom on one of these.
You never had to worry about anything. Life smelled like freshly baked cakes, and everything was refined as it’d been just created. The newness of it all would fill your days with unvarying excitement. Every door had a welcome mat and dreams were the only currency. That’s how old I am.
